E-Rechnung Pro is not a replacement for your accounting system, and it is not trying to become one. It does a narrow job: turning invoice data into a standard-compliant hybrid document, and checking documents against the standard.
What that means in practice
- What it does: builds ZUGFeRD and Factur-X invoices in BASIC, EN 16931 and EXTENDED; converts an existing PDF invoice into a hybrid one; validates ZUGFeRD, Factur-X and XRechnung files.
- What it does not do: bookkeeping, payment tracking, dunning, or sending invoices on your behalf.
- How it connects: through the file. The exchange format is the interface, which is exactly what a standard is for.
Your books stay where they are; the service supplies the compliant document. Where the file goes next is covered in our article on delivering an invoice to your client.

E-Rechnung Pro creates and validates documents against EN 16931:2017 — the version ZUGFeRD 2.x and Factur-X are built on today. We are following the EN 16931-1:2026 revision and will support it as the formats adopt it.
